Solutions for companies during restructuring and redundancy
Corporate change is the order of the day and individuals, regardless of their level of seniority within the organisation, will respond in ways that will vary from excitement at the opportunities presented, to deep anxiety because of the uncertainty engendered. They may find themselves in a situation where having an excellent CV will be a key factor in achieving future success in the newly restructured/combined organisation. For example:
They may have to re-apply for their current role.
They may have an opportunity/need to apply for other internal roles.
They may need to look for employment elsewhere
Working with a professional CV writer to review skills and achievements and to shape and present future offering is a positive and developmental step for employees impacted by restructuring. The sponsoring organisation is able to secure commitment, enhance performance, and ease the period of transition for retained staff and offer practical assistance to those who are made redundant. It is a very visible way for the organisation to demonstrate its understanding of the impact of change on the individual.
The CV House offers an individually tailored service to support individuals during these changes. We can work on a one-to-one basis or in groups, and will design an offering that the organisation can incorporate into a more formal change/management development programme. Our delivery would include inter alia:
A meeting with the individual to start the process of reviewing career and achievements to date in the context of the needs of the new restructured organisation. Our discussions will include, if appropriate, much of the content outlined in the group workshop content below.
CV House Consultant will then write the CV and email it to the individual for review.
A follow-up telephone conversation with the individual to discuss final amendments, which will then be emailed to the individual.
A final telephone conversation and sign off.
Delivery: will be to groups of up to twelve staff at a time and will be delivered by two CV House Consultants, dependent on numbers, and will include a pre-work pack, a two and a half hour to three hour (depending on agreed content) workshop and a post-workshop CV critique service incorporating email and telephone follow up.
Workshop content: your CV and why it matters; current objectives; basic principles of a good CV; why achievement CVs work best; choosing and writing the right statements for the present CV; writing a punchy, persuasive, positioning profile; putting it all together.
CV writing practice and coaching time: individuals have an opportunity to have a one-to-one session with the CV House Consultant during the workshop to discuss particular ideas or concerns.
Moving on: accessing the external job market; the visible and invisible markets; recruitment consultants, types and approaches; psychometric tests; the internet; advertised vacancies, press and internet; networking; LinkedIn; direct approaches; to apply or not to apply.
Follow up: individual will complete his/her CV and email it to the course CV House Consultant for review. The Consultant then emails back critique comments and suggestions; this may be done by telephone if the individual prefers. A final version will be sent to the Consultant.
